Chris Alvord
COOP Systems Founder,
CEO, CBCP, MBCI
Chris has been a senior executive in consulting and technology businesses for 25+ years in the Government, Telecom, Energy and Finance sectors.
In continuity planning, he has designed an industry-leading Web-based BCM software package, led numerous large-scale projects, been a Certified Teacher, and has achieved CBCP and MBCI status with DRI International and the Business Continuity Institute. Mr. Alvord co-developed an extensive continuity planning curriculum and was named an Adjunct Professor at NYU.
He has published numerous articles in continuity planning, including pieces in New European Economy, CEO Today, FST Europe, Continuity Insights, and DRJ Magazine. Conference presentations include DRJ, CPM, CI, ACP, NEDRIX, and for several ACP chapters. He has been widely quoted in the media, including at CNN Money, Fox Business, CIO Online, Computerworld, Network World, Infoworld, IT World and Market Watch.
Mr. Alvord has a BA from Harvard College, MBA from Harvard Business School, and has done doctoral course work at Virginia Tech.
Andrew Lee
Andrew is the Director of DRBCM Associates Pte Ltd, a company that specializes in offering training and consultancy services in BCM related subjects.
Prior to April 2007, he was the regional head of BCM in Deutsche Bank supervising the program in 17 countries across the Asia Pacific region. Over 8 1/2 years, he helped to build a team of 12 full-time BCM staff based in over 5 countries.
Out of a total of over 28 years in the banking industry, he spent close to 10 years in the area of BCM and another 17 years in global markets trading.
He was also the Principal Trainer for DRI Singapore in 2008-2009 and was tasked with preparing participants for their BCM Qualifying Exams.
Currently Andrew is the Singapore Campus Director for the ICOR University and its trainer in the Asia Pacific region.
John Cullen
John Cullen is a successful crisis-communications counselor who, as he says, helps organizations tell the truth, so they can build, protect, maintain and restore their reputations.
John is a partner with Foresight PR a full-service public relations firm that helps clients build and maintain reputations, ease change, inform and educate, prevent disorder, sell products and ideas, retain and attract employees, slow rumors and promote truth. Foresight PR's specialty is the prevention of communications crises, or, if called in with the bases loaded and nobody out, a minimization of reputational harm.
John is the course developer of the Crisis Communication Planner course offered with ICOR.
Michael J. Fagel, Ph.D., CEM
Michael Fagel, Ph.D., CEM, has had a remarkable career in emergency management, a career that has spanned more than 32 years and has taken him from serving as a volunteer with the Aurora Illinois Civil Defense Agency during the Cold War to ground zero following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Between then and now, Dr. Fagel has served in various capacities within the American Red Cross, the Aurora Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA),various federal agencies and with Department of Defense contractors.
He also has more than 25 years experience as an instructor at numerous colleges and universities.
Barry Gorelick,
CBCP, MBA & BS
Barry Gorelick is an ICOR Charter Member and DRII certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP). He brings 24 years of business resiliency planning, crisis management, business continuity and disaster recovery experience in IT, financial services, and business.
He has served as a consultant, subject matter expert, and leader in business continuity, risk, and resiliency planning for a number of Fortune 50 companies including; Bank One/JP Morgan Chase, American Express/Ameriprise Financial, Capital Group Companies and Union Bank.
Barry helps organizations establish and integrate crucial Business Resilience skills and capabilities within their strategic business planning, operations, processes, systems and facilities, maximizing an organization's ability to endure, protect shareholder value and grow, while minimizing the impact of costly disruptions to its business functions.
James R. Helton,
M.S., M.Div., M.P.H., Psy.D.
Dr. Helton is an Applied Psychologist specializing in organizational and individual behavior in high-stress and/or volatile environments. Jim brings over 30 years field experience at all levels of disaster and crisis management. His specialties include crisis leadership, business continuity, inter-agency coordination, and working with military, medical, criminal justice, and faith-based organizations. Jim currently directs the consulting consortium The Centers@Pinehurst that serves for-profit and not-for-profit organizations and serves as a trainer and advisor for ICOR.
Larry Herriott, MBCP
Larry is a self confessed business continuity bigot with over 20 years in business continuity, disaster recovery and crisis management planning. Larry holds DRII and BCI certifications and has served on the DRII Certification Commission.
Larry has held contingency planning positions as Business Continuity Program Manager for a major international company responsible for business continuity for the corporate and subsidiaries in the U. S., the U.K., and Canada, and as the Business Continuity Program Manager for a major aerospace company.
In his work life prior to contingency planning, Larry started in the information technology field as a programmer and has held positions as Programmer, Systems Analyst, Programming Manager, Manager of Systems and Programming, Manager of Manufacturing Systems and Director of MIS (CIO).
William Million
Bill has been committed to contingency, recovery planning, physical, and intellectual asset security, and emergency planning since 1984. Business continuity management practice & consulting focus has been corporate data centers, financial institutions, business operations, and city and county government.
In this complex environment he completed and tested more than 100 contingency plans. Recovery experiences include building fire, flood, and earthquake. Technical background includes facility management, physical security, systems security, emergency preparedness and life safety, technology and business recovery planning. Bill is currently a managing partner with BCRSgroup & has held corporate management and consulting with Fortune 100 and 500 corporations. As a FEMA Region VIII, DAE Mitigation Specialist he assists with federal disaster declarations.
Bill Million has been a certified professional since 1992 holding active certifications as MBCP, CORM, CDOM, CDCS, CDCP. In addition to corporate planning Bill has been teaching for more than 8 years, originally for the Disaster Recovery Institute and is currently an instructor and training partner with ICOR.
Dennis A. Morgan
Dennis A. Morgan. Dennis is a professional with 30 years of managerial experience in the areas of law enforcement, corporate security, and business continuity.
He has earned his CBCP certification, and holds a Doctorate in Criminology.
Currently engaged with Honeywell Aerospace, he serves as global security manager and business continuity subject matter expert.
James I. Nelson
President of Business Continuity Services, Inc. (BCS), a consulting firm specializing in Business Continuity, Crisis Management and Disaster Recovery planning, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.
He is a frequent speaker, writer, instructor and practicing professional both domestically and internationally. Jim holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration, has earned the MBCP certification from DRI International in 1998 and served as DRI's Lead Instructor from 2002-2006.
He is chairman of the board for ICOR, is a board member for the Northern Illinois Chapter of ACP, and is a member of IAEM.
Jim also serves as the Business and Relationship Management Consultant to International Association Management, Inc.
Howard Pierpont
With more than 20 years of Business Continuity experience, ranging from global large-scale precision manufacturing to small, stand-alone single site operations, Howard has an extensive and unique background in merging business continuity into continuous operations.
He is a Certified Organizational Resilience Manager. Howard is a Certified Recovery Planner from the University of Richmond, VA as well as a Certified Business Manager with the Association of Professional in business Management, Chicago, IL while maintaining a CBCP from DRII.
He is a Charter Member of ICOR and is currently an instructor and training partner with ICOR.
Currently, as a DHS/FEMA DAE Community Recovery Specialist, he works with communities having received federal disaster declarations. Howard also serves as Board Chair for the Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response Association.
Al Sawchak
Al has been actively involved in risk assessments, business impact analyses, continuity strategy development and business continuity plan implementation. He has extensive risk management consulting experience with one of the leading international insurance carriers serving large multi-national corporations. His expertise in risk management includes enterprise-wide risk analysis, claim management, automation and loss control.
He has authored numerous industry magazine articles and conducted numerous training sessions on a variety of risk management and business continuity topics. Being a featured international speaker in a variety of forums, Al has conducted national and international presentations on various topics including BS 25999, incident management, risk assessment, business continuity practices and plan testing.
He has earned the MBCP certification from DRI International and has active designations as CORM, MBCI, ARM, ALCM and LCSC.
Richard Sharpe
Richard is the President & CEO of Competitive Logistics LLC. He has served on the Board of Directors for WERC and Georgia Tech’s Executive Masters in International Logistics (EMIL) Program and is a founding member of American Logistics Aid
Network.
Prior to Competitive Logistics, Richard was President of CAPS Logistics, Inc.
Richard is a frequent speaker for CSCMP, WERC, IMRA and APICS.
Richard was inducted into the Council of Outstanding Young Engineering Alumni/Engineering Hall of Fame and the Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni
of Georgia Institute of Technology.
He also has earned an MS in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology as well as a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Florida.
Edward van Leent
Edward van Leent is a Dutch national who has lived in Asia-Pacific for over 10 years and holds the Singapore PR status. He has over 20 years of experience in the hi-tech industry and has worked in the electronic design, Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software, High-Availability computer systems, mission critical data centre and enterprise management markets.
He has held varies senior management positions in multinational companies in the areas of customer services, business development, sales & marketing and senior strategic management.
Edward is a vibrant and energetic person with a good sense of humour bringing training classes to life.
Edward is an active member of a number of data center professional groups including AFCOM, IDCP, FEA, Green Data Center Alliance. Data Center Professionals, Data Center Architects, Data Center Facilities Management Group, the Green Data Center Alliance and the Data Center Engineering Group. He is also the vice-chairman of the workgroup for the Singapore Standard for BC/DR SS507.
